Technical issue last night

Welcome to the YouthLoop blog. Here we'll talk about such various topics as development, recent company developments, and personal philosophies. Also we plan on posting several interviews with succesful youth group leaders as we meet with them to discuss YouthLoop and its use in promoting their groups.

So over the past week a few people have told me that they couldn’t see any of the pictures in a album. Each time I tested this, however, I was unable to recreate it. Well today I realized how big of an idiot I was and I tested it in Internet Explorer (I use Firefox), and low and behold, nothing showed up. So after 5 seconds of searching I found the problem and fixed it. Sorry about this to everyone who uses IE, and thanks for letting me know.
One of the most requested features we have been asked for recently has been an improved navigation system for the photo galleries. So as a result we have installed a lightbox system that allows you to easily navigate between pictures with a next and previous button. I hope you all like it. And don’t forget the more suggestions we get, the more stuff we’ll build for ya.
We will be switching MP3 services soon, so in the mean time while you all use the Instant Messenger, the MP3 player has been removed while it is being worked on. We’ll let you know when we expect it to be back.
The server move has been completed and now when you come on you will see new link on the right hand side. It says “Open IM Client” and if you click that we have a chat window open up. I think it works pretty nice and it has your entire buddy list already loaded in so you don’t have to worry about adding people again. Also if you are on someone’s page next to the add friend button you will see a green or red circle. This is indication whether the user is logged into the chat client or not. This should make it nice and easy for people to get together online.
Hope you enjoy and let us know what you think.
In preparation of launching the YouthLoop service to all youth groups on June 1st, we will be moving the site to its new home (a new server) tonight between the hours of 8 and 10. During that time period you may not be able to log in to the system, and if you are online, whatever information you might be adding may be lost.
Also after tonight the instant messenger will be live for testing. So feel free to chat away.
Well the day is almost over and we spent almost all of it at the Battlecry event in Bristow, VA. This was my first Battlecry and I have to say I enjoyed it immensely. Last night in particular was incredibly powerful, with the conclusion being several thousand youth coming to Christ. Today was also exciting, as VIP guests we got to go backstage, hang out with some of the crew, as well as meet a lot of of other people who are also actively trying to make a difference in the youth of this country through their own various ministries. I got to meet some famous people too. I got a picture taken with Newsboys bassist Phil Joel, and I even got him to record a shout out to the ELC youth group on my phone. I’ll be uploading that in a day or two. I also got to meet the MC of the Battlecry, a comedian who looked exactly like Harlan Williams. Well I have some more work to do tonight, so I gotta go. Goodnight.
Well I’m about 20,000 or so feet above the earth right now on my first flight, and I have to say I’m loving every minute of it. Well I guess technically this is my second flight. We started the morning by flying out of South Bend to meet a connecting flight in Detroit. It’s the flight from Detroit to Washington D.C. that I’m on now. The only downside I’ve noticed to flying so far are the waiting, the standing in lines, and the constant need to be popping my ears. The benefits as I see them so far are that it’s fast, I can watch a movie while traveling, and it gives me time to read. In fact while typing this blog post I have my laptop playing the greatest movie of all time Clue. When I get to the hotel I’ll post this along with a couple of pictures of me on a plane.
This past Sunday while doing an article on Troy’s website design company Digital Hill, the Goshen News mentioned YouthLoop as one of Troy’s side projects. Hey it wasn’t much, but its something.

This week is going to have some big changes going on. We are going to be ramping development on a few different features (some unannounced) and hopefully bringing them live during the week for testing.
The mp3 player is going to go through a major change and will hopefully give some enhanced functionality on controlling what mp3’s you see in the playlist. More details once this change is completed. Unfortunately this will break your current list and you will have to reupload your songs but luckily we are handling this now instead of in the future when everyone has more up there. But trust me it will make it a lot easier and more powerful for everyone.
Unfortunately I can’t talk much more about the other things that will be coming but work is going ot be at a furious pace the next couple weeks and I’m hoping it will make the site loads better for all.
